Meet Annabel
Annabel Wellman is a psychotherapist based in Melbourne, Australia, who offers an empathetic, supportive and
client-centred approach to counselling children/teens, parents, and individuals.
Using an integrated approach, Annabel focusses on the emotional, behavioural, environmental and cognitive aspects of the client’s mental health needs. Annabel uses a Psychodynamic approach, and therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Relaxation Techniques, Play/Craft therapy and Attachment-Based therapy and internal family systems. She offers support with building self esteem, anxiety, depression, for both adults and children/teens, Building Resilience and Social Skills, while also addressing issues such as School Refusal, Bullying and Trauma.
Wellmind Counselling which is Annabel’s Private Practice, is part of The Bigger Picture Clinic located in Elsternwick, and provides a beautiful, safe and secure space for children, parents and individuals to talk in both the Elsternwick office located in Glenhuntly Road, and another separate space in the Malvern office, located near Glenferrie Road.
For clients who are children, Annabel uses a range of play/craft based therapies to suit the child’s developmental stage, and actively listens judgement-free. With a gentle, compassionate, supportive and curious disposition, and using a mix of evidence based therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and others, Annabel will work with you or your child to help support through life’s challenges, and provide unconditional positive regard, and help to create the right conditions for personal and emotional growth.
Having a daughter of her own, Annabel has extensive experience working with children in Primary Schools as well as real-life experience. Having worked with children and adults of all ages, she is an expert in Counselling with years of experience working with Children, Teens, adult Individuals and Parents in both private practice and the public sector.
Outside of Counselling, Annabel enjoys spending time with her daughter and small dog. She resides in the inner Melbourne suburb of Armadale, loves coffee, going to markets, the beach, travelling and gardening.
